The Region
Nature Park Texel Range
The
Nature Park Texel Range is
South Tyrol's largest natural park with an area of 33,430 hectares. Because of its amazing assortment of flora and fauna, it is a beloved place to visit. The spectrum includes everything from the Mediterranean "Flaumeichen-Buschwald" to mountain pastures and wild grasslands to the mighty glaciers.
Hirzer Cable Railways
The
Hirzer cable rail runs from
Saltaus to the
Hirzer high plateau at about 2000m above sea level from March to November. You can exit the car at the middle station
Prenn and the mountain station
Klammeben. You can visit many mountain lodges or farms and enjoy a snack to help you refuel for the rest of your hike. From the mountain station, you can enjoy many
high Alpine hikes. The Hirzer summit is especially adored by mountain hikers.
Passeier High Road
This
panorama hiking trail is on of the most beautiful in
South Tyrol. With a length of 13km and a duration of about 6 hours, the wonderful views can be enjoyed by less trained hikers.
Merano High Road
The
Merano High Road also offers amazing views and because of its relatively level trail, it is considered one of the most comfortable routes in the area. The trail stretches
over 100km and offers many options to ascend or descend. In many areas there are safety chains, rope or railings. The descends and ascends are made easy by natural steps, man-made stairways and ladders.
European Long Distance Hiking Trail
The long distance trail E5 (Constance - Bolzano - Venice) goes through the Passeier Valley and can be shortened by using the
Hirzer Cable Railway (see above).
